A mobile auto locksmith based in Burbank, CA
Burbank Auto Locksmith is operated by KPN Electronic Inc., a licensed and insured mobile locksmith. We drive to your vehicle or home and do the work there.
Mobile locksmith service, no storefront
We provide mobile automotive locksmith and electrical diagnostic services. Every job is done where the vehicle is parked: a driveway, a street, a workplace lot or a parking structure. There is no walk-in location, so the first step is always a call or a text.
Most of our work is in Burbank. We also cover nearby Glendale, North Hollywood and Sun Valley, plus other neighborhoods listed on our service areas page.
Burbank Auto Locksmith is the trading name of KPN Electronic Inc., California locksmith licence LCO8538. We are insured, and we accept major credit cards and Apple Pay on site.
Automotive and residential locksmith work
Car keys
Car key replacement covers a first spare, a duplicate of a key you still have, and a new key when every key is gone. If you have no working key left, our guide to lost car keys explains what we need from you. Broken, cracked and worn keys are replaced the same way.
Car lockouts
If the keys are locked in the car or the trunk, our Car Door Unlock Service opens the vehicle at your location once ownership is verified.
Ignition problems and broken keys
A key that will not turn, sticks, or is stuck in the cylinder is handled through our Car Ignition Service. When part of a snapped key is left in an ignition or door lock, it is removed first; see broken key extraction.
Lost or stolen keys
On many vehicles a missing key can be deleted from the vehicle system so it no longer starts the car, and mechanical locks can be rekeyed when required. See lost-key deletion & automotive rekeying.
Key fobs
Fob cases, buttons, batteries, replacement and programming are covered under key fob repair & replacement.
Homes
For houses and apartments we handle house lockouts, lock rekeying, lock installation & replacement, door lock repair and smart lock installation. The residential locksmith page has the full list.
Why modern car keys need programming
Most cars built in the last few decades will not start on a correctly cut blade alone. A chip in the key, or the smart key itself, has to be recognized by the vehicle’s immobilizer. A new key therefore has to be electronically registered to the car before it will start the engine.
Depending on the vehicle, that can mean adding a transponder key, registering a smart key or proximity fob for push-button start, or resynchronizing the immobilizer after a module is replaced or a key stops being recognized. Smart key & transponder programming and immobilizer reset & reprogramming explain each case.
Not every vehicle can be programmed on site, and some need dealer-level access. We confirm what your vehicle needs from its year, make, model and VIN before we dispatch, and tell you if yours is one of them.
