Transponder keys with master and valet keys

Lexus used transponder immobilizer keys early and often supplied a master key and a valet key with different access. Many systems are shared with related Toyota models of the same era.

What you see: A metal key with a thick plastic head. Master and valet keys can look different; the valet key may not open the trunk or glovebox.
Programming: The chip is registered to the immobilizer with diagnostic equipment. We confirm whether you need a master or valet key.
All keys lost: Possible at the vehicle on many models; the immobilizer has to accept a key without an existing one, which takes longer.

Remote-head keys

The blade and remote buttons share one key head. You still insert and turn the key to start.

What you see: One piece with lock, unlock and panic buttons on the head.
Programming: Chip and remote are both programmed; similar-looking keys from different years can use different chips.

Smart Access and push-button start

Lexus brought keyless Smart Access to much of its range earlier than most brands. The fob stays in your pocket and the vehicle starts with a button.

What you see: A fob with no fixed blade and a hidden emergency key. Some models use a thin card-style key.
Programming: The fob is registered to the Smart Access system with diagnostic equipment, and the emergency blade is cut separately.
