Jeep key replacement and programming

Mobile key cutting and programming for Jeep vehicles at your location. Jeep generally follows the same key-system progression as other Stellantis-family vehicles: mechanical and remote-head keys, then an optional Smart Key on later, higher trims. We confirm the exact key system from your VIN before dispatch.

Technology reference

Jeep key and immobilizer systems

Each section covers one Jeep key system: what the key looks like, and what programming or All Keys Lost service involves. Years are approximate and vary by model, trim and build date. We confirm the exact system from your VIN.

Mechanical keys and separate remotes

A metal key turns the ignition by hand with no electronic check. A separate remote on the ring may lock and unlock the doors but does not start the Jeep.

What you see
A plain metal key with no buttons. Any remote is a separate piece.
Programming
No chip to program. The blade is cut to code or decoded from a lock; a separate remote is programmed on its own.
All keys lost
A new key can be cut from the key code or by decoding a lock at the vehicle.

Sentry Key transponder keys

The Sentry Key immobilizer reads a chip in the key head. Jeep shares this system with other Chrysler-family vehicles of the same era.

What you see
A metal key with a plastic head; many have remote buttons built in.
Programming
Programmed with diagnostic equipment. Some vehicles allow adding a key onboard with two working keys.
All keys lost
Possible at the vehicle on most models.

Remote-head keys

Some Jeep models, Wrangler in particular, kept a turn key with a remote head long after other models moved to a fob.

What you see
One piece with lock, unlock and panic buttons.
Programming
Chip and remote programmed together.
All keys lost
Possible at the vehicle on most models.

Fobik keys

A stubby fob with no fixed ignition blade that inserts into the dash ignition slot and turns. A small emergency blade is stored inside.

What you see
A rectangular fob with buttons and no blade showing.
Programming
Programmed with diagnostic equipment; the emergency blade is cut separately.
All keys lost
Possible at the vehicle on most models.

Keyless Enter ’n Go

A proximity version of the Fobik: it stays in your pocket and the vehicle starts with a push button.

What you see
The same style of fob, with a push-button start in the dash.
Programming
Programmed with diagnostic equipment.
All keys lost
Possible on many models.

Security gateway (SGW) vehicles

Newer vehicles add a security gateway module that blocks unauthorized diagnostic access. Programming requires registered, authorized access.

What you see
The key itself looks the same; the difference is in the vehicle’s electronics.
Programming
We use authorized access to reach the vehicle’s modules. A generic tool without it cannot program keys.
All keys lost
Possible on many vehicles with authorized access; we confirm coverage by VIN before dispatch.

Each model page lists that model’s key systems by year and links back to the matching section above.

Important compatibility notice — final key compatibility must be confirmed

The key images, vehicle models, and year ranges shown on this page are provided as a general identification guide and may not apply to every vehicle. The manufacturer may use different key systems within the same model year depending on trim level, production date, manufacturing location, ignition type, and factory equipment. Final compatibility must be confirmed using the vehicle’s VIN, ignition type, existing key or fob, and vehicle information before service. The images are representative examples and do not guarantee an exact visual match.
