Toyota Camry key replacement and programming
The Camry has been through more key-system changes than any other Toyota: a plain metal key in the 1990s, then transponder keys, remote-head keys, a Smart Key option and, most recently, flip keys. Two neighboring model years can look alike and still need different keys, so we check the VIN before cutting anything.
Camry key systems by model year
Year ranges follow Camry generations and are approximate. Trim, build date and factory options can change the system within a year, so we confirm it from your VIN before dispatch.

Mechanical keys and separate remotes
Metal ignition key with an optional separate remote. Some late-1990s Camrys offered a security-equipped key, so two systems can appear in the same year.

Transponder (immobilizer) keys
Transponder key with a separate remote. In the early 2000s, the key type can depend on the exact build date.

Integrated remote-head keys
Remote-head keys arrive, and higher trims could be ordered with a Smart Key. Toyota changed the chip around 2010–2011, so a key from one year may not start the next.

Integrated remote-head keys
Remote-head key on most trims, with an optional push-button Smart Key on higher trims.

Toyota Smart Key and push-button start
The redesign brought a newer Smart Key option alongside a folding flip key on turn-key cars.

Toyota Smart Key and push-button start
The current hybrid-only Camry uses Toyota’s Smart Key with push-button start.
Lost every Camry key?
If no working key remains, we can program a new key to many Toyota vehicles at the car. An All Keys Lost job takes longer than adding a spare because the immobilizer has to accept a key without an existing one to authorize it. Time and cost depend on the key system, so we confirm it from your VIN first.

Important compatibility notice — final key compatibility must be confirmed
The key images, vehicle models, and year ranges shown on this page are provided as a general identification guide and may not apply to every vehicle. The manufacturer may use different key systems within the same model year depending on trim level, production date, manufacturing location, ignition type, and factory equipment. Final compatibility must be confirmed using the vehicle’s VIN, ignition type, existing key or fob, and vehicle information before service. The images are representative examples and do not guarantee an exact visual match.
A current registration or title and matching government-issued photo identification must be verified before automotive key, lock, or immobilizer service is performed.
